Registering for china
I really adore fine china, and I always assumed we’d register for it. And now we have! We didn’t go the traditional route, though, and opt for all one pattern, but instead have mixed and matched between a few. Since several of the patterns aren’t available at my local Macy’s, I decided to order one of each piece to make sure they all looked good together. And then I had fun playing :)
Here’s the breakdown of what we’re registering for:
— 12 “Staccato” dinner plates from Crate & Barrel (not technically fine china!)
— 12 four-piece place settings (dinner plate, salad plate, cereal bowl, and mug) of Spode’s “Nectar.” I wasn’t sure whether John would like this one, but he actually loves the birds!
— 6 Kate Spade “Trimble Place” salad plates
— 12 Kate Spade “Larabee Road” bread and butter plates
What do you think? Would you mix and match patterns like this if you were registering for china/fine china? Do you think our guests will be confused? :)
P.S. Remember when I wanted to register for green and gold china? Still love those patterns.
I love this idea! You picked such lovely pieces…robin’s egg blue, polka dots, and scallops? Yes please!
I love the polka dots and scallops together! In fact, everything looks great when they’re combined like that. Nice picks!
I love mixing and matching formal china! We registered for very nice everyday china that can double as formal china. I’m so excited about all the possibilities of mixing and matching fun dessert plates and tea cups depending on the season!
I love what you’ve done with the mix-match! Kate Spade has some of my favorite China patterns, and I’ve always said when I go to pick out China I want to mix and match a few things…it seems much more usable that way! Especially if you’re not a matchy-matchy decorator. Good picks & good matching!
I think the mixed and matched China is awesome :) It’s so pretty and fun, and is so unique! I ended up going very traditional with some blue and gold Herend China, but am looking forward to mixing in some more pretty white and blue pieces at some point to mix it up a little. It’s so much ufn picking it all out and getting it all orgainzed :)
Just beautiful! I love the patterns you’ve picked out. So dainty, but also striking!
It all looks so beautiful together! You are going to har so much fun once you have it all. We mixed and matched on our registry, and of course some people (the more traditional people) were confused, so I just had to take some things back and get the right things…super easy!
I ADORE how you’ve combined the two! Lovely!
[…] plates, don’t you think?) I had some fun playing around with the different pieces on my blog here, if you’re curious to see how everything will fit together! Do register for your now, and […]
