Gifts for Em

20 November 2020

Working away on gift guides over here (planning to share next week!), and in the meantime, I thought I’d share a few things on my own wish list. Surprisingly, a few of you requested this when I asked for your GG input, and I’m happy to oblige!

Kelly’s beautiful and colorful Christmas tree!

Julie Vos Penelope Small Studs | I wear simple pearl studs day in and day out, and while I love them, I think these would be a fun, beautiful alternative that’s not too flashy. Plus Kristin told me to get them and I do what she says.
— More gold taper candle holders | We have two we use on our table nightly and I’d love a few more for special occasions! I linked a style I love but these could just as easily come from the thrift store.
Misty blue mixing bowls | When we moved to NC my mom sent me with a set of 7 glass nesting mixing bowls, which have served us well for over a decade. Since having kids, however, several have met an unfortunate demise… these sturdy bowls in the prettiest color would get us back to a full roster.
A cozy fleece | I love my Patagonia 1/4 zip, but sometimes I just don’t feel like pulling something over my head. I think I’d reach for this often – love the navy color.
The cookbook that all of my friends are raving about. Many of Tieghan’s recipes are in our rotation, so I’m sure this would be a hit!
— A beautiful block print quilt | Would love one of these in a king size for picnics and reading in the yard!
— Another Long-Long set of Lake Pajamas | I tend to buy things and wear them into the ground, and that is certainly the case with the Lake Pajamas I was gifted last Christmas. I have worn them to bed almost every night this year (I wash them, I promise!), and would love another set to rotate with. Eyeing the Parisian green.
White dish rack | We have a very utilitarian plastic drying rack. Since it sits on our counter 100% of the time, I think this would be a nice upgrade!
Ugg Classic II Shearling Short Boot | I feel VERY conflicted about putting these boots on my list. First, the price makes me wince. Second, they’re Uggs, which I’m pretty sure I swore about 15 years ago I’d never wear. But. But but but. I have nothing like this in my closet, and in a season when I am outside in the cul-de-sac with my kids every evening into the dark (and in a COVID winter when we’re all going to be spending more time outside), it seems worth it to be as comfortable as possible. Tell me you love them and make me feel better? (Or, tell me you don’t and suggest an alternative – that’s cool, too!) *UPDATE!* After reading this post, Kristin texted me to suggest the Ugg Classic Mini Fluff, describing it as “less aggressive,” ha! I love it and have decided that’s the one I’ll go with (or at least officially put on the wishlist!). On super sale as of this writing, too!

What’s on the top of your list this year? I always get inspiration from what others are wishing for!

Love this list – always get such awesome inspiration from your lists. You fond the best (pretty and practical) stuff! On the top of my list this year is a tree farm for my Christmas village, a pearl pendant necklace, and a new sweater dress.

Go forth and conquer in your Uggs! :) I asked for a new pair several years ago, and I couldn’t believe I was adding them to my Christmas list because they felt like something that was no longer a thing (maybe?). However! They are so warm, and I’ve never found a shoe or boot that keeps me cozier during the winter in Philly. I have found they run a bit more narrow these days, and I’ve discovered wearing them without socks makes them even more comfortable (I think this is actually something that’s suggested). Uggs most certainly have my vote!

I love my Ugg boots and they last FOREVER if you care for them properly! I’ve had one pair for nearly fifteen years that are still in good condition. There’s nothing I would rather slip on if I have to go outside in the cold! I never wear socks with mine.
On my wish list this year are new exercise clothes since I’ve been working out and walking so much more! I’m also eyeing a pair of Rothys (because Kristin told me I need them, much like with you and those lovely earrings). I would like a pair of rocking chairs for the front porch!

Definitely go for the Uggs! So comfortable! I used one pair for all four years of college and wore them almost everyday.
I have no ideas for my own gift list this year. I am turning into my mother. She always says she doesn’t want or need anything and I am feeling similarly. Not a bad place to be at all, but it certainly isn’t helpful for my family members who want to buy me a gift. I will probably ask for a new two person game for my husband and I to play.

Love this! I like the style of Lake pajamas but I have not purchased a pair because I don’t want to have to dry via lay flat. Do you throw them in a dryer?

Love your list!! I will say that I have been anti Ugg because the bottoms are so slippery and not good for New England weather. I got these last year and LOVE them! https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/Teva-Ellery-Chelsea-Boot/n3310042?color=BISON&sid=972549@cm_sp=share-_-app-_-message Very warm and practical but also water resistant so great for rain or snow!

I was against Uggs for a long time (refused to wear them all throughout college!), but I was given a pair a few years ago, and I LOVE them. Now I am sad about the many years I missed out on how cozy they are.

Get the Uggs, you won’t regret it! I’m still rocking a 15 year old pair from high school. I had to wait in a line outside for a COVID test in Boston for 3 hours last week and it was 25 degrees out. Couldn’t have done it without my Uggs. I know they aren’t the most fashionable (and New England is definitely not a bastion of fashion forward dressers) but about half of women in the line were also wearing Uggs. My feet are always cold, nothing keeps them warm like Uggs. One watch out is that road salt can stain them so if they get wet/salted from being out in the snow, just brush them off with a damp towel before they dry!

Such a beautiful list – I don’t have much on my list this year… I have to dig deep x

I wear ugg slippers daily and have Columbia boots like you mention for winter here and walking the dogs, etc. Similar to these linked below, they slip on and are so warm and cozy. Also wore them at places we’ve gone skiing etc and they are holding up several years later https://www.columbia.com/p/womens-minx-shorty-iii-boot-1803151.html
