Our new bedside tables

29 May 2018

Hello, friends! I hope you had wonderful Memorial Day weekends! Ours was great — we stayed local and filled our three days with some of our favorite things and people. We also visited two new-to-us spots that will definitely be making it onto my forthcoming Raleigh city guide, including our new favorite pizza!

I’ve got a fun little bedroom update for you today. You may recall from this post that I was on the hunt for a pair of small dressers to replace our bedside tables and house June’s clothes, which we keep in our bedroom for simplicity’s sake. After much internet searching and deliberation, we finally pulled the trigger, and I wanted to share! But first, the before:

bedside tables

I am not even going to show you John’s side, because it was a HOT MESS of books and electronic cords.

After considering many options, including this gray petite option (too short for our bed height), this weathered piece (wasn’t sure if the wood would look cheesy), this pretty modern piece (too expensive), this simple Ikea piece (maybe a little too modern), and this lovely navy piece (John wasn’t sold on the blue), we ended up going with a pair from Birch Lane.

Sadly, I can’t find them on the website right now, but they were about $500 for the pair and from a company called Longshore Tides.

That corner is looking much better, no?

Here’s John’s side — thankfully, the more solid dresser hides his cords!

Inside, I have a few personal items in my top drawer, but all three are filled with June’s current wardrobe (anything out of season or that she’s waiting to grow into is stored in her dresser upstairs).

John’s side will store baby boy’s clothing — his drawers are mostly empty for now!

So happy to have everything off the floor – only took us two years!!

Now, here’s where I need your help: I’m not in love with the drawer pulls, but am not sure what to replace them with…

Simple antique brass?
Simple white?
Beautiful milk glass or clear?
Floral? (Probably too girly…)
All white petals?

Any suggestions or favorites, my friends with excellent taste??

These drawers are perfect!! And I have the same question about drawer pulls for my own drawers so I’m curious what people will say. I think the way the pull feels on the hand should be taken into account as you’ll use them a lot…maybe the last one? Simple and elegant. Where is your coverlet from? It’s lovely!

These are lovely! I vote for the simple antique brass drawer pulls. They will be a lovely, timeless complement to your white and blue aesthetic. :)

I vote antique brass all the way! The contrast will be beautiful and bring an element of sophistication that I think will work nicely with the rest of your room.

I’m 100% sold on the antique brass! Will look perfect with your frames and pale blue bedding!

I also vote for the brass!

What’s the logic of having June’s clothes in the master bedroom instead of her nursery? I’m sure this makes perfect sense but as a person with no kids yet I’m so confused!

Hahaha I love your comment, Monica! And even though you don’t have kids, I’m sure there are plenty of people WITH kids that are still confused :) I explain a bit more in the post I linked at the top, but basically, June’s room is on our second floor and our bedroom is on the first floor, and once she comes downstairs in the morning, we don’t go back upstairs. So, instead of running up and down the stairs in the morning to get ready, most of her supplies are kept in the master bedroom, too. Earlier in her life, this allowed me to pick out her outfit the night before after she went to bed, and now that she is “helping” pick out her outfits, we can do it in the morning together easily. Hope that helps! :)

They look lovely, friend! My vote is the Harvey knob BUT I also love the Corbin tab pull (which you didn’t select but here we are https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/corbin-knob?category=hardware-knobs&color=040) as I think the blue leather is masculine while the gold detailing on the pull is feminine thus creating a nice combination of style that works well in a master bedroom; plus the tones match your lamps, bedding, framed vows, etc. Just my two cents :) Can’t wait to see what you pick!

So far i’m in the minority because I don’t like the brass ones, but I do second the how they feel comment. I like the Tilda Glass knob the best. Also, I think Hobby Lobby has a huge assortment of knobs too so if there’s a store near you you could try a few options and see which you like in the house.

Love her little shoes lined up over in the corner!

Hi Em! I like all those knobs, but if I had to pick I would go with the milk glass ones or the brass (if they go with the lamps!) Awesome kids clothes storage!!
