P&P Christmas: Playlists
One of my very favorite parts of the Christmas season? Easy — the music! I’m a pretty staunch purist, waiting until the day after Thanksgiving (and not before!) to break out my carefully-put-together playlists. Here are a few of my swinging favorites:
(Everybody’s Waiting for) The Man with the Bag — Kay Starr
Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town — Bruce Springsteen
I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm — Dean Martin
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen — Barenaked Ladies with Sarah McLaughlin
Sleigh Ride — Johnny Desmond
Skating — Vince Guaraldi
Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! — Les Brown
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas — Ella Fitzgerald
Merry Christmas Baby — Lionel Hampton
Winter Wonderland — Brian Setzer Orchestra
Swingle Jingle — Lionel Hampton
Jingle Bells — Glenn Miller
Ring Those Christmas Bells — Peggy Lee
Santa Claus is Coming to Town / Jingle Bells — Pete Fountain
Boogie Woogie Santa Claus — Brian Setzer Orchestra
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer — Jack Johnson
All I Want for Christmas Is You — Mariah Carey
I take collecting Christmas music very seriously. Have any suggestions for me?
P.S. Want to listen to my playlist? Click here!
I am so happy you made this! It is making my mood very merry even with the stress of the end of the semester. I would like to add one more which I enjoy, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree….
Ooooh..this makes me want to have a swanky holiday cocktail party!!
I second the swanky holiday cocktail party!! Doesn't that sound wonderful? And yes, Miss Wanda, I will do my best to find a swinging version of Rocking Around the Christmas Tree — I'm sure there's one out there!
This playlist is a big hit at work! Despite initial skepticism (mainly because my Swiss colleagues thought that all Christmas music was sung by children) I've successfully imported American Christmas cheer!
YES! I'm so glad you told me that. Even the Swiss need a little Christmas cheer!
My suggestions will be forthcoming, thanks to a USPS near you!
