November 2015 Goals
Ooh boy. I’m a little nervous about November, as it will be an unusually full month for us. We have a commitment Monday-Thursday evening for the first three weeks (instead of our usual rate of maybe one commitment per week!), we’re traveling one weekend, and we’re hosting guests another. And on top of that, I have some major work events, and, oh yes, a major holiday to celebrate! For some reason, all of that hasn’t stopped me from setting a large number of goals for November, but maybe that will work in my favor — did y’all ever experience the phenomenon, maybe in high school, when you got much more done in-season than out-of-season? Necessity is the mother of efficiency, perhaps? Either way, with the clock ticking on our girl, I’ll take it!
Biscuit supplies at my church’s booth!
Revisiting my goals for October:
Paint baby girl’s room (Thank you, Dad and John!)
Switch out baby girl’s light fixture
Assemble crib
Order crib skirt
Make first draft of labor and delivery preferences
Organize linen/party closet (Yes!! I am so pumped about this one! Sadly, I didn’t take a before, so it probably wouldn’t be that impressive to y’all.)
Successfully lead discussion in our family group for the next three weeks
Introduce John’s parents and aunts to Asheville on our annual trip
Host the third annual pumpkin carving and soup night
Catch the goat showmanship competition at the NC State Fair
Make biscuits at our church’s Fair booth
Create my own version of this glitter star garland (the lone goal that didn’t get checked off!)
November goals:
— Take rings in to be cleaned (I usually do this in September around our anniversary, but it’s still lingering.)
— Take knives in to be sharpened
— Frame and hang our NC BBQ print (have to figure out how to do it first… maybe something like this?)
— Make a pelmet for little lady’s room (already bought the fabric and will use Jenny’s tutorial!)
— Choose and order twin bed bedding
— Choose and order Minted Christmas cards (voting post coming soon!!)
— Design and print Christmas card newsletter
— Vote!
— Host the first Articles Club
— Purchase half of our Christmas gifts for friends and family
— Start filling out our girl’s baby book
Whew!! That is WAY more goals than I usually tackle, for two months back to back. If you’ve posted yours somewhere, I’d love to see – or just drop them in the comments!
Necessity surely is the mother of efficiency! Is as though our time suddenly is perceived with more value when it is so limited. I’m excited to see your choices for Christmas cards :) My goals for the month are posted here: http://www.kylamary.com/2015/11/november-goals-2/
My dad always says “if you want something done, ask a busy man!” I totally believe this phenomenon! When I have nothing going on, I want a whole lot more of nothing going on- haha! :)
Yay for getting (almost) all of your October goals done! Way to go :) November will be a very busy month for me as well; two major deadlines in the middle of the months and traveling on two weekends, along with the regular commitments. But like you said, necessity is the mother of efficiency and I’m sure it’ll all get done, maybe not perfectly but that’s not the point right? I plan on really enjoying those two weekends out of town and will do everything in my power to get the work stuff done during the week. Happy November!
So many wonderful goals! I’m excited to finalize our Christmas cards this year as well! Always so inspired by your newsletter too! Would LOVE to know any steps/tricks for creating one… perhaps a DIY tutorial blog post?? :D
I have a little tip for you on the ring cleaning- I ordered an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner from Amazon for like $25 and it does an AMAZING job and doesn’t take up much space. I also use it to clean my glasses. I held off on this purchase for a long time, because I dislike gadgets that only do one thing and it seems SO frivolous when the jewelry store will do it for free. I am happy to say it has been so worth it! I clean my rings and glasses at least once a month because it is so satisfying to see them sparkle like new.
Hi Robyn! I would love to do a tutorial, but a few things have always stopped me (including that I use Illustrator, which I know not many people have access to, and also that my process is mostly trial and error!!). However, I will be writing some newsletter tips on the SW blog at the very beginning of December, so keep an eye out for them there! :)
Hi Em! I’ve been reading your posts for quite a while now and I’ve decided to take the plunge and create my own blog (you inspired me that much!). Good luck with your goals for this month. I can’t believe Christmas is almost here again. I can’t wait to see more baby-related posts – they just make me melt! So adorable!
My goals are posted here: http://www.missmirabito.com/blog/november-2015-goals
P.S. All the best with your little bundle of joy! : )
Oh, yay! I’ll definitely keep an eye out! :D I’ve never tried using Illustrator, but I’d be game for using a free 30-day trial of Illustrator to try and create a pretty newsletter! ;) Thank you!!
I am right there with you about November been jam-packed and even more busy than usual. Whew! (I knew I had to go the other route and tried to keep my goals really simple for the month, which is not my usual!) I’m also super excited for our first Articles Club!!
I have loved your holiday card newsletter for years! Would you consider putting it in your store? I would certainly purchase it in a heartbeat!
Hi Em! Thank you so much!! Last year I did open up the opportunity to design three newsletters for $100 each, and I think I will do the same this year. Keep an eye out next week! :)
Oh, Emily! I have always loved following your goals posts, and I am so impressed with your success rate from last month! :D I especially love the goat showmanship competition goal, being that I’m a former 4-Her and can walk to the WI State Fair from my home. :) haha
I totally agree with you about getting a lot done in the months that are more of a pinch! I got SO much done the week before we left for Mexico last month that I almost wished I had vacation every other week! haha You can totally rock out November! :) (God, willing, of course!)
I posted my goals over here this month: http://dianakerr.com/november-goals-2015/ :)
Hugs!

You go girl! You’ve inspired me to make the rest of my November as productive as possible :)
grace + goals for the Woodcocks finally up! http://www.wearetlk.com
Love all that is happening for you this fall, friend. I just see God’s goodness pouring over you and John in these final months before your baby girl arrives!
