A week on the Connecticut shoreline
Usually when we go home to Connecticut, it’s for a major holiday or a big occasion, like a family wedding. Every trip is fun, but on those occasions our schedule is often hectic and largely dictated for us. So to have a full week where we could simply enjoy some of our favorite restaurants, activities, and places in our hometown was a rare treat – and we took full advantage of it! Here are a few photos, if you’d like to see. At the bottom of the post I’m also sharing a list of our shoreline/southeastern Connecticut favorites, if you should find yourself in the area!
The view from Abbott’s.
The magnificent Ocean House. We went for lunch and it was as wonderful as you’d expect!
June loved the penguins at the Mystic Aquarium! Everything else pretty much went over her head, but the penguins were a hit :)
All dressed up for a high school friend’s wedding!

Oh, Em! I LOVE that photo of June marveling at the penguins! So cute!
So many thoughts!
1. I’m now officially adding Connecticut to my travel wish list! Those views!
2. June is changing so much!!
3. Your swimsuit… I love!
I love finding new places in New England! I visited Mystic a few summers ago and the coastline was delightful. :)
It looks like someone was quite a big fan of Connecticut! :)
Clyde’s cider mill and doughnut store.
I’ve really been enjoying new places in downtown Mystic on my trips home – The Engine Room (http://www.engineroomct.com/) and Red 36 (http://red36ct.com/) are both great!! So glad to see you had such a great trip!
@Anna I wanted to add one or both of those, because I’ve heard so many good things about them, but John said I could only list places we’ve been, and we haven’t made it to either yet :)
@Victoria Thank you! It’s from Topshop via Nordstrom. Just as a warning, the sizing is SO WEIRD. (I have an 8 and I usually am a 0 or 2, but I had to go that big to get it over my hips (which are very average).) However, it’s so cute that I decided to keep it, and am planning to have the cups taken in a bit – ha!!
Take me BAAAACCKKKK!!!!!
PS. June is seriously the perfect little combo of you two. Loving her big grin!
[…] am really grateful for August!! It was just a good, good month, starting with our time in Connecticut, which felt slow and relaxed (and now, like it was a long time ago!), and ending with a string of […]
Emily, I’m way behind on blog reading/writing, so you might just receive an influx of comments from me… I loved seeing some of these photos on Instagram last month and I was scrolling through this post picking out favorites and the list just kept growing and growing. So happy to hear that you had a low-key week at home with your families and miss June!
Meredith! I know you have been to many of these spots, but I don’t think you’ve been to Sift, since they recently opened. You should absolutely add it to your list for next time – you will love it!!
