Vintage silver at the reception

19 April 2012

It’s been awhile since I’ve talked about collecting silver for our wedding! We’re pretty much done, thanks to some kind family members and friends who heard about my mission — whoo! — but are still searching for a few key pieces. I have more vegetable dishes and trays than I can shake a stick at, but would love one or two larger champagne buckets or trophy cups.

In the meantime, though, I thought I would share some of the images that are inspiring me on my silver pilgrimage!

Steve Steinhardt (flowers by Holly Flora via Inspired by This) and Thuss + Farrell

I haven’t decided yet what the tarnish level of the pieces will be, but I’m thinking not see-your-reflection polished, and not dull as a doornail, either. Somewhere in between. I want the overall aesthetic to be clean, not vintage, so I think erring on the side of more polished is probably a smart decision. Time to break out the rags!

P.S. Want to catch up on the silver hunt? I’ve posted about it here, here, and here.

Sweet peas in weddings

18 April 2012

Sweet peas are one of my favorite flowers. They’re perfect for spring – soft, fluttery, and just, well, sweet :) What do you think?

Drink more water

16 April 2012

That is what I would like to do.

Eileen Ramsay via Sail World

Despite having this desire for quite some time, I haven’t made much progress. So today I turn to you, dear friends: Do you do a good job of drinking water throughout the day? If so, do you have any tips to share with me?

My main issue is that I drink lots and lots with meals, but am not the type to sip on plain water throughout the day. I probably would sip on lemonade, but I don’t really want to add that much sugar to my diet. The best suggestion I’ve heard so far is to add wedges of lemon and lime to a tumbler of water, but I’ve yet to try it.

Thoughts? Tips? Suggestions? All will be gratefully received!
