Yes, this is the third post about the morning of our wedding. (In case you missed it, I posted about the soundtrack and my outfit here, and the location here.) Perhaps I’m thinking about it right now because last night I had an interesting dream that involved this topic. Would you like to hear about it? Ozzy Garcia The dream opened at about 5 in the morning. It is still dark outside. I am in my gown and trying to do my own hair and makeup in my bathroom in my childhood home. No one else seems to be around. Eventually I get ready, and I go downstairs to find five groomsmen who are each wearing a different outfit. I don’t remember this bothering me. John starts to come down the stairs, and I start dashing around, trying to stay out of his sight. End scene. New scene. I’m in a ballroom, which also is apparently a church, and there are now a ton of people around me, all asking me questions and reminding me of things that haven’t been done. (Most of the questions were about escort cards, which we’re not even having in real life…) In the middle of this, I’m trying to explain to the pastor (not our pastor, but apparently this guy was going to be co-officiating our ceremony) that we want to serve communion, but that we only have one cup, not two, and no wine or bread. He said he thought that was a very bad idea. In the middle of talking to him, I realize that we never decided on our vows or readings or hymns or anything having to do with our ceremony, and I decide that John and I need to talk to our real pastor about this immediately. End scene

Yep, still thinking about it (first post here, in case you missed it). It was so gratifying to read all of your sweet comments about how you, too, think it’s important to plan out the morning of your wedding and not just let it slip haphazardly away. In fact, just typing out that sentence gives me hives — the LAST thing I want happening on that day is to not realize how late it’s getting, and be forced to rush around getting ready at the last minute. Not that that would be likely to happen, but still. Anyway, I’m happy to say that we’ve decided where we’re going to be getting ready that morning: the Steamboat Inn! Here’s a little pic of the front: Photo by wheelmaker via flickr You actually approach from the back, but as my grandmother says, no one has waterback property :) Anyway, first, though, let me say that it might seem strange that I’m getting ready anywhere other than my childhood home, which is just as close to our ceremony venue as the Steamboat. Getting ready at home would certainly save us money. However, as we’ve already discussed, a calm wedding morning environment is very important to me. It sets the tone for the day, and I want the tone to be calm, loving, and joyful. I do not want anyone racing around picking up a house that, quite honestly, will probably be cluttered from a week of wedding preparations — not me, not my Mom, not my sisters, not my bridesmaids. I want a neutral environment in which we can all relax. I also want to give Tanja a lovely, simple background in which to shoot. Here’s a shot of the suite we’ve booked — isn’t it pretty? All that being said, I think
