3 November 2014
Well, we beat our trick-or-treater record from last year — 117 little goblins and ghosts! We actually ran out of candy and had to shut off our lights… then headed to Chipotle to split a $3 boorito.
My November goals are a bit ambitious, with high hopes of finishing out the year strong. It’s the best month to give thanks, so let’s do that, friends!

October goal recap:
Finally paint our front door now that the weather is cooler!
Make sure my voter registration is correct after our move last year
Dust/spot clean the inside of my car
Goals for November:
— Dust/spot clean the inside of my car
— Add one more day to our exercise routine
— Order our Christmas cards
— Print out a prayer bookmark
— Continue with my closet inventory
— Organize first (annual?) neighborhood luminaria tradition
— Decide on new big wall art arrangement and execute it
— Make apple pie biscuits!
I would love to hear what you all have planned for this month!
1 October 2014
Hooray for crisp air, babbling brooks, pink sneakers, everyday adventures, and the month of October!

September goal recap:
Sort pile in small bedroom
Weekly tennis dates with John in addition to our monthly couples tennis dates
Edit and sort photos from Natalie + Joe’s wedding weekend, Maine, and family Christmas card shoot
Open an account at my local consignment shop and bring in items to sell
Write at least 8 blog posts this month
Yeah!! Feeling pretty good about my progress last month! The only thing I did not check off was selling my clothes at a consignment shop. I actually tried – I rounded them up and took them in – but they said they weren’t currently accepting items and to call back in three weeks. Harrumph. I only have about five items to sell, and I’m wondering if I should continue to pursue the consignment route… or perhaps I should try to sell them on instagram? Or post them on the lightly-used EFM Facebook page? Happy to hear any thoughts or advice from friends who have successfully sold clothes recently.
On to October goals!
— Finally paint our front door now that the weather is cooler!
— Make sure my voter registration is correct after our move last year
— Dust/spot clean the inside of my car
Aaaand… that’s it!
Well, not exactly – I’m also planning to check off many of my fall to dos this month, including but not limited to picking apples, hosting a pumpkin carving night, handing out candy to trick or treaters, cheering under the Friday night lights, making pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, and frequenting the NC State Fair. On top of that, I’m traveling to New York/New England twice, and welcoming house guests one of the other remaining weekends. It’s going to be a great month! :)
If you’ve posted October goals, I’d love to take a peek – leave a note in the comments!
P.S. The Caitlin Wilson Designs giveaway is open until Friday!
3 September 2014
My husband would NOT be happy with me for saying this (he resents fall because it leads to winter), but I’m looking forward to all that the next few months will hold! Of course, I fully intend to celebrate summer until it’s good and over (it was 95 degrees yesterday, after all), but I’m also getting excited for the fall adventures we have in the works. Happy September, friends!

Happy mason jar flowers riding home in my car’s cup holder!
August goal recap:
Sort pile in small bedroom. (I would say this is about 25% done – sliding it down to this month’s goals!)
Plant a few hardy bananas against our backyard fence.
Make a trip to the Ballard Designs outlet and possibly buy a bed, if the one we’re interested in is there. (Bed was not available :(
Get our summer dinner party on the calendar. Not only did the dinner party get on the calendar, but it happened! Report coming soon!
Make plans for our two year anniversary! (Plans have been discussed, but I would not say they’ve been finalized.)
September goals:
— Sort pile in small bedroom
— Weekly tennis dates with John in addition to our monthly couples tennis dates
— Edit and sort photos from Natalie + Joe’s wedding weekend, Maine, and family Christmas card shoot
— Open an account at my local consignment shop and bring in items to sell
— Write at least 8 blog posts this month. I have so many things I want to write about that I’m challenging myself to get them out!

1 August 2014
Holy moly, what a month! We celebrated John’s birthday, Natalie and Joe’s wedding, and then, to cap it off, our nephew was born earlier this week!!
I had to chuckle when I looked back at my July goals, because I said I was “keeping things simple to hopefully have a 100% success rate.” I clocked in at 80%, which I suppose is not so bad, but I feel like I actually got even more done last month than my list implies, so I’m pleased!

July goal recap:
Install a rain barrel. (It recently occurred to me we could buy one for less on Craiglist… have started the search.)
Finish taking house photos and post tour. (Photos are finished! Tour should go up next week!)
Finalize and print last third of household maintenance doc.
Clean out our “art storage room” – hang everything we like and organize/donate/sell/get rid of the rest.
Pick blueberries. (We tried several times, but farms were always closed or picked out!)
Celebrate John’s birthday! Among other things, we went to Bida Manda in Raleigh, and it was delicious!
August goals:
— Sort pile in small bedroom. (When we moved to NC we didn’t know how long we’d be here. Once it became clear we had moved for the long haul, I began sorting through my childhood bedroom on trips home, deciding what to keep and what to toss. The unsorted pile finally got small enough that it could be packed into several suitcases and boxes, which were trucked down by my parents and deposited rather unceremoniously in our spare bedroom last month. Now I need to make keep/sell/donate/toss piles and take action on them.)
— Plant a few hardy bananas against our backyard fence.
— Make a trip to the Ballard Designs outlet and possibly buy a bed, if the one we’re interested in is there.
— Get our summer dinner party on the calendar.
— Make plans for our two year anniversary!
Considering we’ll be in Maine for over a week this month and I have an additional work trip, I think that’s quite enough! I would love to take a peek at your monthly goals if you posted them!
