Wedding day emergency kit
Hello, friends! I’ve had a whirlwind two weeks! (I feel as though I’ve been saying that a lot lately…) I can’t wait to tell you all about my adventures – a wedding in Maine, my bachelorette, my bridal shower, a wedding in Newport, another week in Maine – but right now I’m focusing on the final big event in the near future – John’s sister’s wedding! It’s just five days away, and we’re all bursting with excitement. Fingers crossed for great weather on Sunday!!
While I get my thoughts and photos organized, I did want to share with you a post I’ve been working on for quite some time. It’s my take on the wedding day prep kit. I think it’s a great idea for every gal to have one with her on her wedding day – if you’ve hired a wedding planner/coordinator, it’s almost certain she’ll bring one with her, but if not, it’s probably something you should compile yourself. I know I’ll be bringing mine with me on Sunday!
Solid perfume | pain reliever | wipes | snacks (perfect for post-portraits, pre-ceremony) | water bottles | blotting film | bandaids | bobby pins | a lint roller | deodorant | safety pins | white chalk (for coloring over small stains on white fabric, like a wedding gown!) | a travel sewing kit | corsage pins | clear nail polish (for stalling snags) | travel tissue packs | a nice pen (for signing cards or a marriage license, or supplementing the guest book) | mints (not gum) | shout to go wipes | fashion tape
Would you add anything to this kit?
Love the list! I would also recommend white finger nail polish (if you are getting a french manicure) and some super glue. You never know when you will need it…but I am sure all of the items will come in handy. I know for my wedding it did. Even the super glue to glue back one of my bridesmaids shoes. Ha! Enjoy this time.
I showed up with a kit when I was in a wedding and all the other bridesmaids thought I was a genius. I couldn’t believe they didn’t have one either. Second the super glue. We held a bustle together with safety pins once, so lots of those is a good thing. Oh, and hairspray!
I would add a nail file too, you know, just in case.
Great list! I never would have thought about chalk!
You’ll be a lifesaver. I’d add a deodorant remover sponge (white marks might not show on the bride’s gown, but they probably will on a colored bridesmaid dress!), eye drops (crying = red eyes, which are NOT cute in pics!) tampon(with a group of girls someone is bound to need one!), and dental floss.
Great list – this is so helpful! Definitely bookmarking this for future use!
What a great list!:) My cousin got married this past weekend and few things she asked for were: white nail polish (french manicure fix-ups)and a nail file (same reason). I noticed a few other people included these…seem to be popular!:)
In addition to the stuff above, I had floss, wisps, Benadryl, Immodium (you never know with nerves), and cough drops. I’m pretty sure all of that got used too!
Sooo perfect, thanks Emily!!
What is it with bridesmaids and broken heels? I found myself in just that predicament last month. Luckily a friend of the bride and my fiancé both came through in the 11th hour and now I have both super AND gorilla glue in my possession.
Given that my proclivity for nervous fidgeting lends itself to near constant hangnails (yech), I will be tucking my trusty cuticle clippers in my own wedding day kit next year. :)
The other thing I can think of (although it may be taken care of by a makeup artist) would be lip balm. A tint that matches your lipstick might be nice so touchups don’t get cakey
I would add a razor, just in case! My wedding morning was so crazy I forgot to shave my underarms and had to have someone bring me a razor last minute : )
What did you use as a case for your kit?
@Jesse R: I have used a sewing kit and a small brown paper bag (with handles) in the past. The kit was better :)
