Fall Fashion: Current J. Crew Favorites

4 October 2008

I know I promised this post last week, but I trust you’d rather have it late than never – excuse me while I wipe the saliva off my keyboard and get on to the photos.

I adore the detailing on the Nathalie dress – I just wish I had more party-frock-wearing opportunities to take advantage of such a lovely piece!

It reminds me of Miss (now Mrs.!) Peacock’s dress on Weddingbee.

I go back and forth on gold v. silver, but I’d definitely find a place for the Jenna bracelet in my wardrobe.

I would take these heels in any color, any day… except that each pair costs $198. Boo J. Crew prices.

These ones are a little crazy, but I think they’d add a kick to a neutral outfit of classic pieces.

Loved this from the moment I saw it in the catalog… it looks so soft!

Modern day Audrey Hepburn = Audrey Tautou = this French serge coat. I think it’s fascinating that they’re only offering it only in “bright saffron.” I find it darling, but I’m not sure how many others would agree…

Perfect to dress up or down. I love how they’ve paired it with beaten-up jeans and a soft tee, but I could just as easily see it with a charcoal pencil skirt.

And finally, I love the pleats on this one.

There. Maybe getting my fix this way will alleviate the pressure to indulge in real life. Here’s hoping!

I’m a finalist!

4 October 2008

…in the Southern Weddings Fuss Jewelry Contest!

This fabulous opportunity challenged readers to design a wedding inspiration board based on a piece of Fuss Jewelry. I chose this beautiful white pearl vine necklace as the jumping-off point for my board:

And here it is! (I especially love the top right photo.)

The ladies at the SW blog are featuring the top twenty finalists today, and all the boards are beautiful. Click here to check out the entries and vote on your favorite!

If you decide you like my interpretation, remember: #10 all the way!

P.S. You have until Wednesday, October 15 to vote… but get over there now anyway!

Fall Fashion: J. Crew

30 September 2008

I’m a huge fan of J. Crew. I’m also a huge fan of reading magazines, tearing things out of them, and squirreling my finds away in an elaborate filing system. {Seriously – the carrying case I keep my stuffed manila folders in must weigh 10 pounds!} But that’s a story for another time.

Today I’d like to share with you some of my favorite fall inspirations ripped from the pages of J. Crew catalogs from the last three years or so. Even though many of the exact products aren’t available anymore, I hope you’ll be inspired nonetheless.

As you can see, I love J. Crew jackets. Though their prices are usually hard to swallow, I think the jackets – with their unique tailoring and dreamy, impossible-to-find-elsewhere colors – could be worth the price. I’m also loving the layering (of both colors and textures), the trim shirts tucked into full skirts, and the mixed prints (i.e. floral under argyle and topped by tweed). Somehow, it works.

Check back tomorrow for some of my favorite (current!) items, but in the meantime…

What’s your favorite J. Crew fall trend?
